Caste System in India...Why does it still exist??

Any Indian would know about the caste system. It is a system that basically divides people into different groups (that also have levels). Brahmins on the top, followed by Kshatriyas, Vaisyas, Sudras, and Pariah (or Untouchables). Though the Indian Government has outlawed caste system in 1955; it still exists deep inside every Indian (There are exceptions). All my relatives in India marry people only in the caste we belong in. This frustrates me. Why? What is that your are getting in a certain caste that is not there in the other? Particularly, the 'Untouchable' are treated in a very harsh way. There are about 170 million people in India belonging in this caste. Most of them have no food and are often starved; so they go to marriages and pick up leftovers in the garbage and store them for use in the winter season. Why should someone born in a certain family face all these insults and hardships? Why are they not included in the community as a whole? They are also minimum amount of jobs allocated to these people. Why? What is the use of caste system in today's world? Why can't people in lower caste get the same respect that a human being deserves? I am not blaming anyone but I feel like these are some questions that one should ask himself/herself. I have watched a video on YouTube that showed me a positive light on this issue. Please do watch it.
